St. Hilary's Miniature Church Advent Calendar 2009

Christmas Day!

The children particularly remember this photograph!  It was taken on Christmas morning in 2006 a short while before Midnight Mass!  The children were so excited that year as they had NEVER been allowed to stay up for this most special service......the very first service on Christmas Day!  Priscilla Jane was admiring the nativity scene, Alice was practising reading the lesson and Adele couldn't resist checking the tree out as Tom practised taking photographs with his grandfather's SLR camera!

No prizes for guessing which carol is the favourite of ALL the children in St. Hilary's for this day in this year's Advent Calendar..........and it is...............

come, all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant,
O Come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels.
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

God of God,
Light of Light,
Lo! he abhors not the Virgin’s womb;
Very God, Begotten not created.
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

See how the shepherds,
Summoned to His cradle,
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear;
We too will thither
Bend our joyful footsteps.
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Lo! star-led chieftains,
Magi, Christ adoring,
Offer Him frankincense, gold, and myrrh;
We to the Christ child,
Bring our hearts' oblation.
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Child, for us sinners
Poor and in the manger,
Fain we embrace Thee,
With awe and love;
Who would not love Thee,
Loving us so dearly?
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation;
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God,
In the highest;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,
Born this happy morning;
Jesu , to Thee be glory given;
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing.
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.
